Reading
I still love the library.

I’m still trying to read as much as possible. Below is a highlight of what I’ve read in the last couple of months.

Pachinko by Min Jin Lee – I had to check out what all the fuss was about. It really took me back to watching Korean dramas with my parents as a kid, but in the form of an epic novel.

Becoming by Michelle Obama – who can say anything bad about Michelle Obama? I can’t. This was a great example of a famous person’s memoir and I think I’ve learned a lot from the writing of it.

The Leavers by Lisa Ko – Whoa. Read this book. It’s so topical to the border crisis and immigrant families being separated. I didn’t know that it would have such a deep connection to that topic when I picked up the book because it was on some list of top Asian American works. Definitely worth a read!

Severance by Ling Ma – An Asian American Zombie Apocalyse novel? Tell me more. This book was fascinating and it made me extra afraid of the shopping malls around me turning into ghost towns. Very interesting read that left me wanting for a sequel.

An Unquiet Mind by Kay Redfield Jamison – I can’t believe I never finished this classic memoir about living with bipolar disorder before. I finally thought it was time and made myself finish. It also taught me a lot about writing a memoir on the subject and really heartwarming to know so many people I’ve met were inspired by this book.

The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon – Loved this YA romance! I still haven’t seen the movie though. Why haven’t I seen the movie? Ugghh! I honestly forget. #momlife. But! I loved this book. It was a delicious read that left me wanting for more by Nicola Yoon.

Do you have any more recommendations to add to my library waiting queue? I’ve got quite the waitlist already but always looking for books especially on: Asian American memoirs, uplifting stories about living with bipolar disorder, great memoirs to study, and binge-worthy YA romance. Please let me know!

Thanks for reading!
